What Is This Texture & How Was This Digital Asset Created?

This digital texture represents a vertical corrugated and fluted surface—evoking weathered shipping container walls, industrial roller shutters, vintage washboards, and ribbed architectural glass.

Unlike synthetic gradient stripes made in vector software, this asset was captured from physical materials to preserve authentic light falloff and micro-abrasions:

Directional Raking Studio Lighting: An oxidized sheet of corrugated galvanized steel and fluted aluminum paneling was mounted vertically in a dark studio. A hard, narrow-grid strobe light was positioned at a low 20-degree raking angle from the side, casting dramatic cylindrical highlights across the ridges while plunging the valleys into deep, rich shadow.

Macro Full-Frame Capture: The illuminated panel was photographed using a 100mm macro prime lens at f/11 for edge-to-edge sharpness, capturing the natural grain of the metal, vertical scuff marks, and subtle oxidation spots.

Silver-Gelatin Tone Mapping & Alpha Processing: The raw file was converted into a high-contrast monochrome profile with enhanced mid-tone separation and exported as a lossless PNG so designers can utilize both the dark shadow grooves and bright specular ridges.

Creative Applications & Technical Workflow in Design Software

This ribbed vertical texture is a favorite among motion designers, album cover artists, architectural visualizers, and packaging designers looking for industrial realism or fluted-glass distortion effects.

1. Using as an Overlay Texture (Blend Modes & Displacement)

Fluted Glass & Ribbed Shadow Effect (Overlay / Soft Light): Place this texture directly over portraits, typography, or product photography. Set the layer blend mode to Overlay or Hard Light at 35%–70% Opacity. The alternating dark and light vertical ribs instantly simulate looking at your subject through ribbed architectural privacy glass.

Photoshop Displacement Map Trick: Save a copy of this texture as a .psd file. Select your text or photo layer, go to Filter > Distort > Displace, and choose the corrugated texture file. Then place this PNG layer on top in Multiply or Overlay mode—your underlying artwork will physically warp along the vertical ridges for a hyper-realistic 3D corrugated effect!

Industrial Grunge Shadows (Multiply Mode): Set the layer to Multiply over colored backgrounds or rugged branding layouts to imprint the dark vertical shadow bars and metallic wear directly onto your canvas.

2. Using as a Base Background

Shipping Container & Industrial Branding: Use the texture at 100% opacity as a raw, heavy-duty backdrop for hardware brands, automotive posters, fitness graphics, or cyberpunk UI interfaces.

Metallic Foil & Chrome Finishes: Pair the texture with a Gradient Map adjustment layer in Photoshop using silver, gold, or holographic chrome color stops to transform the monochrome ridges into realistic 3D liquid metal paneling.

Technical Guide: How to Download, Customize Colors & Choose the Right Background

Our interactive preview tool allows you to configure and download this corrugated texture for immediate integration into your design pipeline.

Step 1: Choosing Your Background Option in the Preview Tool

Depending on how your asset interacts with transparency, select one of the four background modes above:

Transparent PNG: Ideal for layering directly over existing design compositions in Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, or Figma while preserving alpha channel flexibility.

Solid Black ( Best when generating high-contrast bump maps, normal maps, or displacement maps for 3D rendering engines ( Blender, Octane, Unreal Engine) and Photoshop distortion filters.

Custom Hex Color Background: Click the color picker swatch to infuse a custom brand color behind the ribbed shadows—such as shipping-container cargo blue (#1E3A8A), industrial hazard orange (#EA580C), or brushed brass (#CA8A04). This gives you an instant colored corrugated wall background ready for web banners or presentation slides.

Step 2: Selecting Your Output Scale & Downloading

Pick your target size under Select Download Size:

Full (100% Original): Best for print production, large-scale environmental graphics, and high-res displacement maps.

Medium (50%) or Small (25%): Great for web UI textures, social media stories, and fast preview prototyping.

Hit Download Image to receive your lossless .png file.

Step 3: Customizing Colors & Tones in Your Editor

Gradient Map Colorizing (Recommended for Ribbed Textures): Because this texture contains rich cylindrical highlights and shadows, adding a Gradient Map adjustment layer in Photoshop or Procreate lets you map dark shadows to one color (e.g., deep navy) and bright ridges to another (e.g., electric cyan) for a stunning duotone 3D metallic finish.
